GP477R-EG41-24VP is a control panel operator interface that is manufactured by Pro-face. The general specifications include the following. The input voltage is 20.4 VDC to 27.6 VDC. The power consumption is 50 W or less (TYP 20 W). The ambient operating temperature should be 0°C to 50°C. The storage temperature is -10°C to 60°C. The storage humidity is 20% to 85% relative non-condensing humidity. The vibration resistance is 10 Hz to 25 Hz (X, Y, Z directions for 30 minutes at 19.6 ms2). The external dimensions for the GP main unit only are 274 mm (width) x 216 mm (height) x 56.5 mm (depth). The weight is 2.5 kg or less. The noise voltage is 1200V p-p, the pulse length is 1μs, and the arise time is 1ns. The ratings are equivalent to IP65f and NEMA #250 Type 4x/12.

The features of this operator interface are a 9.1 inch touch screen with high contrast amber LCD and 640 x 400 resolution. This unit is RS-232/422 communications port configurable and offers barcode reader support. The operator interface is DC/AC powered and has a printer port. It is password protected and has 15 level security. The interface also allows for recipes trending, alarm/event management, scheduling, and pop-up keypads. The memory application is 2 MB FLASH EPROM. The parity is none, odd or even. The tool connector is asynchronous. The data length is 7 or 8 bits. The data transmission speed is 2400 to 115.2 kbps.

System Design

• Do not create GP touch panel switches that could possibly endanger the safety of equipmentand personnel. Damage to the GP, its I/O unit(s), cable(s), and other related equipment cancause an output signal to remain continuously ON or OFF and possibly cause a major acci-dent. Therefore, design all monitoring circuits using limit switches, etc. to detect incorrectdevice movement. To prevent accidents related to incorrect signal output or operation, de-sign all switches used to control vital machine operations so they are operated via a separatecontrol system.

• Do not create switches used to control machine safety operations, such as an emergency stopswitch, as a GP touch screen icon. Be sure to install these switches as separate hardwareswitches, otherwise severe bodily injury or equipment damage can occur.

• Please design your system so that equipment will not malfunction due to a communicationfault between the GP and its host controller. This is to prevent any possibility of bodily injuryor material damage

.• The GP is not appropriate for use with aircraft control devices, aerospace equipment, centraltrunk data transmission (communication) devices, nuclear power control devices, or medicallife support equipment, due to these devices' inherent requirements of extremely high levelsof safety and reliability.

• When using the GP with transportation vehicles (trains, cars and ships), disaster and crimeprevention devices, various types of safety equipment, non-life support related medicaldevices, etc. redundant and/or failsafe system designs should be used to ensure the properdegree of reliability and safety.

• Do not use the GP unit as a warning device for critical alarms that can cause serious operatorinjury, machine damage or production stoppage. Critical alarm indicators and their control/activator units must be designed using stand-alone hardware and/or mechanical interlocks.

• After the GP's backlight burns out, unlike the GP's "Standby Mode", the touch panel is stillactive. If the operator fails to notice that the backlight is burned out and touches the panel, apotentially dangerous machine miss-operation can occur. Therefore, do not use GP touchswitches for the control of any equipment safety mechanisms, such as Emergency Stopswitches, etc. that protect humans and equipment from injury and damage. If your GP'sbacklight suddenly turns OFF, use the following steps to determine if the backlight is actu-ally burned out.1) If your GP is not set to "Standby Mode" and the screen has gone blank, your backlight isburned out.2) Or, if your GP is set to Standby Mode, but touching the screen does not cause the displayto reappear, your backlight is burned out.Also, to prevent accidental machine miss-operation, Digital suggests you use the GP's built-in "USE TOUCH PANEL AFTER BACKLIGHT BURNOUT" feature, that will automati-cally detect a burnout and disable the touch screen.Installation

• High voltage runs through the GP. Except for replacing the backlight, never disassemble theGP, otherwise an electric shock can occur.

• Do not modify the GP unit. Doing so may cause a fire or an electric shock.

• Do not use the GP in an environment where flammable gasses are present, since operatingthe GP may cause an explosion.

These GP units, with their expanded user functionality and improved overall performance, are an upgrade of Digital's GP70 series panels.
Please read this manual carefully as it explains, step by step, how to use the GP
correctly and safely.
Also, in this manual's examples, the Mitsubishi MELSEC-AnA Series PLC isused whenever possible, connected in a one-to-one relationship with a GP.
